Errors are part of the leaning process, students show frequently them. There is no exception with the language learning. Students tend to have errors as part of their experience with the language. Even if they have mistakes, they are learning. Students will be aware of the needs. Through mistakes they will make some changes to correct them and to improve them.
Mistakes are divided into error and slips.
Errors happen when students don´t have the knowledge or the previous knowledge to recognize where they have problems with the language. They need a certain level or a process to identify the errors and be able to correct them. |
Slips appears by the influence of internal and external factors. It doesn´t happen for the lack of knowledge because it is because of the absence of attention or concentration. They have knowledge of the language and they can correct themselves. It can be instantaneous or after a time depending on the writtten and spoken task and the type of activity. |
