This section will explain some examples describing functions and exponents that teacher could apply in the class:
1. Getting learner's attention
This is the first step or stage that teacher should do in the first minutes of the class because students need to be motivated to learn and do the tasks that the teacher will require. There are some warm-up, short activities or games such as, board race, Simon says, hot seat, pictionary, that are very useful to motivate students.
2. Instructing
Instructions must be clear to avoid students misunderstand the activities that are going to be assigned by the teacher. Instructions should be explained before the class, during the class (to change the activity), and at the end of the class as a reminder. Teacher can use imperative 'Look at the pictures' or 'Open your book on page...' for begginers or young students, or they also can say 'In this lesson, we are going to...' for advanced levels.
3. Modelling
Teachers sometimes need to model their students, specially for tasks that require writing or speaking skills. Learners need to acquired some expressions and the teacher could write on the board or present some flashcards with the phrases or expressions that are going to be learnt.
4. Encouraging
Students sometimes feel stress or anxious when they have to perform some speaking activities because they lack of confidence. To solve this problem, teacher could make students to use a language in which they feel positive.
5. Nominating
This is an important step that involves a good relationship between teachers and students. Teacher can name some children in the class to do an activity such as, read, speak, or name them as an example using the language. It makes students to think and answer differently or teachers can get their attention.
6. Prompting
Prompting is likely encouraging because it gives possitive influence and good attitudes for students. Prompting is when teachers provide them some words, phrases, and expressions in case students forget the language. It makes them to remember and continue doing their activitiies.
